Summary

Senior UX researcher with ten years of applied research experience — four in industry UX — and a PhD in learning sciences. Mixed-methods practice spanning qualitative depth (interviews, usability, ethnographic observation) and quantitative range (survey design, behavioral analytics, dashboard infrastructure). Recent focus: AI-augmented research workflows and the broader question of what research practice looks like when AI is part of both the toolkit and the product surface.

Experience

Senior User Experience Researcher · Cisco Meraki

2023–2026 · Bloomington, Indiana (remote)

  • First UX researcher embedded in Product Enablement; built the research function from scratch — established mixed-methods practice, in-product feedback loops at module-level granularity, and decision-ready reporting.
  • Designed and led end-to-end research for the Learning Hub 2.0 platform refresh — CSAT/SUS deployment, screener-driven recruitment, learner interviews and usability testing, synthesis delivered to the team.
  • Led mixed-methods demo experience research that expanded beyond my team and drove concrete cross-org changes to a Cisco-wide demo platform; presented findings in sales-leadership meetings outside Product Enablement.
  • Built and migrated the team's dashboard practice from Qualtrics to Tableau; shipped 7 production dashboards used regularly by content product managers and leadership.
  • Built AI-augmented research and analytics workflows in Python: Playwright-based data automation, AI-driven categorization of open-ended feedback with urgency tagging, AI-summary dashboard views, and a WebEx bot surfacing urgent feedback items.
  • Co-created a lightweight research process so instructional designers could run their own formative research, freeing senior research capacity for larger strategic studies.

Product Builder · Empowered.Vote (volunteer)

2025–present · Remote

  • Shipping production TypeScript features for a civic-tech voter platform using Claude Code as primary development partner. Five user-facing features in ~three months: Compass, Essentials, Treasury Tracker, Read & Rank, plus supporting work.
  • Stack: TypeScript end-to-end, Supabase, Netlify, GitHub. Honest framing: AI-augmented product builder, not a traditional software engineer.

Research Scientist · Indiana University Bloomington

2016–2023 · Bloomington, Indiana

  • Dissertation research on social annotation as a mechanism for collaborative learning in online and hybrid university courses. Mixed-methods design combining qualitative content analysis of thousands of annotations with focus groups of instructors and students.
  • Designed a 50-question assessment instrument deployed across 500+ Indiana schools for the Indiana Department of Education; produced executive summary and full report.
  • Five peer-reviewed publications on expansive framing, social annotation, and instructional design for online learning. Full list on the Publications page.
